Churwalden is located in Canton Graubunden in south-east Switzerland roughly midway between the cantonal capital of Chur & the larger resort of Lenzerheide.
It may be conveniently accessed from either Zurich or Friedrichshafen airports. Friedrichshafen lies just north of the border in Germany, near Konstanz.
Zurich is served from the UK by BA (www.ba.com) and Swiss (www.swiss.com) as well as by the budget airline EasyJet (www.easyjet.com) and Friedrichshafen by Ryanair (www.ryanair.com). Flights from London can cost as little as £60 return per person including taxes & surcharges depending on the dates required and if the booking is made well in advance. EasyJet also offers inexpensive flights to Basel.

Car hire is available at all these airports. From England, inexpensive bookings can be made through www.holidayauto.com.
Churwalden is reached via the N3 motorway to Chur. Exit Chur - Sud and follow the directions for Lenzerheide. The mountain road takes you through Malix before reaching Churwalden in about 20 minutes from Chur.
Within Churwalden:
Following the main road through the village in the direction of Lenzerheide you pass the Jager Garage on the right and the COOP and Restaurant Hemmi on the left. Where the road bends to the left and begins to climb the hill, you essentially drive straight on taking a right hand turn into a small road called Bärgliweg.

In winter it is necessary to park on the parking place found on the right hand side after about 150m & before Bärgliweg makes a right hand turn up the hill. This is necessary because the final stretch is likely to be snow or ice covered & too slippery for cars.
In summer it is possible to drive the final 100m up Bärgliweg, turning sharp left immediately after passing the 3 garages situated on the left hand side. After 30m of a very steep untarred private road you take the first entrance to the left and enter the grassy driveway of Chalet Sunneschy where ample parking is available.
